French riding trousers "Charivari"
French cavalry trousers called "charivari" closely copied from original specimens preserved in Paris and Salon de Provence and the description given in the 1812 Bardin regulations (see pics). Made of sturdy broadcloth or kersey, lined with linen. Side leg opening with facing colour cloth band and buttonholes fastening with domed metal buttons. Inside leg leather strapping that comes up to the seat at the back, and the fork in front. Leather "cuffs" around the bottom with leather stirrup strap to fasten under the sole of boots. Available in standard sizes and inside leg lengths. The officer's version with cloth inside reinforcements (instead of leather) is also available.
