French drummer livery habit-veste Bardin 1812-1815

French jacket or "habit-veste" trimmed with the Imperial Livery introduced by the Bardin regulations of 1812 for all musicians (drummers, buglers and trumpeters), but actually only distributed in 1813 to the French infantry, as well as to artillery and cavalry.

This is the most accurate and faithful replica of this iconic garment available anywhere, carefully reconstructed from a thorough study of the Bardin regulations, and personal first-hand examination of the original habit-vestes preserved at Salon de Provence's Musée de l'Empéri, as well as those displayed at the Musée de l'Armée of Paris, and an original trumpeter habit-veste of chasseurs à cheval preserved in the Stadtmuseum of the town of Bautzen, Germany.
Made of correct quality (weight, texture and finish) green wool broadcloth, following the detailed specifications of the 1814 treatise by Dupré-S.te-Maure, lined with woollen serge (cadis) in the tails and natural unbleached linen in the body and sleeves, and carefully drafted, cut and sewn so as to fit correctly - smartly but also comfortably - as per period military fashion. It is profusely trimmed with the Imperial Livery lace in the two regulation types (one horizontal and one vertical), about 13-15 mts. of trim are used for each jacket, all carefully hand-sewn!
