French Guards "redingote" or sentry overcoat
French Guards sentry overcoat or "redingote", faithfully reconstructed from a fine drawing of c.1771 in the Musée de l'Armée of Paris (see pic), and made of heavy overcoating wool cloth, with white braid trimming, shoulder cape and falling "storm" collar, linen lining and pewter buttons. A plainer version without trimming is also available, as well as the officers version in finer cloth and silver braid trimming.
Available in standard sizes, as it was cut rather amply so as to be worn by different soldiers over their uniform in winter or cold and rainy nights sentry duty. For officers also made to measure (see chart above).
