Garde Française, fifre des grenadiers c. 1789
Complete uniform of a grenadier fifer (or drummer) of the French Guards c. 1789.
Authentically reconstructed from period primary sources, both pictorial and archival (Hoffmann, SHAT), the intricate patterns of braid of the "Grande Livrée du Roy" have been replicated on hand looms from original samples in the National Archives of Paris.
The uniform comprises all items of clothing, i.e.: coat, waistcoat, breeches, gaiters, shoes, shirt, neckstock, bearskin bonnet, waistbelt, shoulder belt for drum carriage or fifer case.
It can be made by standard sizes or to measure (see form above).
