Gardes Françaises/Suisses coat 1757
French Guards coat of the 7 Years War (1755-1763), in wool broadcloth fully lined with serge, cloth cuffs, wool braid lace in threes all over the coat, pewter buttons. It can also be made for Swiss Guards in madder red cloth with blue lining and cuffs. Carefully reconstructed from period primary sources, pictorial and archival (SHAT). The earlier pattern of 1736 (that worn at Fontenoy 1745), with larger cuffs and wider skirt pleats, can also be made, for a slight surcharge.
