Napoleon's redingote c.1812
The most iconic garment of this era, Napoleon's grey redingote, an identical replica of the original one preserved at Fontainebleau and personally examined in 2007.
The photos show both the original overcoat and my own replica - which is regularly worn e.g. by Mark Schneider as Napoleon at most events all over Europe. Another identical copy (with the same exact measures of the Emperor) was commissioned at the time and is part of the beautiful exhibition "Napoléon et l'Empire de la mode". Another one was made for reknowned artist Keith Rocco, to be used as reference and worn by models for his great historical paintings.
This replica is made of the same exact grey melange cloth of the original one, and likewise lined with bronze-grey silk taffeta. All edges are raw and entirely topstitched by hand. Even the smallest details have been carefully replicated as per the original garment! You really cannot find anything even remotely comparable to this top-quality identical copy of Napoleon's overcoat anywhere (and not at this price for sure!).
Also available in dark "chasseur" green or blue cloth, like the one worn by the Emperor at Jena in 1806 and shown in the famous painting by Horace Vernet.
