Swiss Guards "habit" or coat 1786-1792

Swiss Guards "habit" or coat 1786-1792

Authentic, 100% identical copy of  the original undress habit of the Swiss Guards (1786-1792) preserved in the museum of Chateau de Morges, Geneva, Switzerland. It is wearing this undress coat that the Swiss Guards died almost to a man defending the Tuileries palace on 10 August 1792.

Made of the dark red wool broadcloth traditionally worn by Swiss regiments in French service, with royal blue facings, white serge lining (which is sewn so as to create an edge piping all over), white braid "brandenbourg" buttonholes, sligthly domed large pewter buttons. All visible stitching and sewings are hand-sewn. Truly a museum-quality copy, available in either standard sizes or cut to your own measures.
