Waistcoat or sleeveless "gilet"

Sleeveless vest or "gilet" ("vestes sans manches"), it may be made for most armies in any colour. Usually of wool broadcloth or kersey ("tricot"), lined with either woollen serge or raw linen, back of either "tricot" (e.g. Imperial Guard), cloth or linen. Skirts with pocket flaps, buttons either pewter or brass according to army and corps. The ones in the pics are of Italian light infantry (green) and Austrian officer (white).
